I just found my three-year old, who was supposedly taking a nap in my bed, sitting in the sink of my bathroom. There was fingernail polish all over the tile floor, the scale, the wall, the carpet, my favorite sheets, my new comforter, Claire and her clothes.
Unfortunately, this is not the first time something like this has happened. Claire has a knack for decorating. Her works of art are my worst mothering and cleaning nightmares. Permanent marker all over the guest room. Play dough smooshed on the living room walls, you name it she has done it. I don't know how to make her understand she can't do things like that. I've tried taking things away, sitting her on the naughty spot, sitting her in her room, the ever so shameful spanking, etc. Nothing seems to faze her.
I am definitely at my wits end, and minutes ago I even heard myself say, "Just wait until your father gets home."

so basically i am taking the most amazing parenting classes ever right now, and i wish you could be with me to sit in on them. i just found out today that i have enough points to get a plane ticket to come visit, so when i come i will bring my books to share with you--they are amazing!!!
one thing that i've learned that i love is that is more important to reward for good behavior and easier than having to punish for bad behavior. maybe let claire paint on some paper and then point out that you love when she paints on paper instead of on the walls, etc.
maybe you've allready tried this!
